This is an on-line discussion forum called DJ Horror Stories. This website is sponsored by the Association of Wedding Professionals, whose members are comprised of catering managers, wedding coordinators, disc jockeys, photographers, and other professional wedding vendors. Companion sites are: Photographer Horror Stories and Caterer Horror Stories. It's purpose is to educate the public in the importance of making wise decisions in choosing wedding vendors.
Of all the wedding vendors that are part of a wedding reception, the disc jockey is the one that determines whether or not the reception is a success.
According to post-wedding statistics, only about 5% of a bride's wedding budget will be spent on entertainment, but 81% of the guests say that the thing they remember the most was the entertainment choice. Only 18% will remember a gown, only 16% will remember the flowers, and only 8% will remember the reception hall and the catering.
72% of all brides surveyed say they should have spent more time choosing their reception entertainment. Almost 100% say they would have spent more of their budget on the entertainment. During their wedding planning, brides say their highest priority is their attire, followed by the reception site and caterer; the music was among the least of their priorities. Within one week after their reception, 78% of brides say they would have made the entertainment their highest priority!
